FAILURE FACE

Brandon Florida’s Failure Face was one of the best angry and fast hardcore bands of the early/mid 90’s(1993-1996). They released several records on label’s such as Ebullition and Burrito Records. Several members went on to play in Murder Suicide Pact.

DEGARNE

Yet another decent German hardcore band.

What is in the German water?

CODE 13

Code 13 is a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based hardcore band formed by ex-members of the defunct band Destroy.

Formation and History In the words of member Felix Havoc:

After Destroy broke up I hooked up with Tattoo Shane and Trevor Trend and began jamming with a series of drummers. We put up an ad at Extreme Noise and attracted Criminal Shane on drums. Code 13 was an attempt on my part to move past the grind and metal influence on Destroy back to a more old school hardcore sound. Still, Code 13 is not a retro-80’s band by any respect, although the 80’s influence is there, many of our songs clock in at speeds undreamed of in ‘82.Code 13’s music is hard for me to describe because we mix several different styles. I’m not saying we’re particularly original or groundbreaking, but our music was far from generic as well. Simply put, we didn’t all listen to just one style of music so our playing wasn’t rigidly influenced by one style either. We mixed sing-a-long 80’s hardcore like early 7 Seconds and Youth Brigade with fast-core like Dropdead and a touch of early DRI, straight edge hardcore, Swedish HC/ Japanese Thrash, 80’s anarcho-punk and some grind/power violence for a fast and powerful punk sound. Lyrically I’d have to say the individual versus society and issues of social control predominate. The name Code 13 comes from the police radio code for “officer down” and as you can guess our lyrics were heavily anti-police and authority. For a while four out of five of our shows were broken up by the man, but hardcore survives on the underground and so did we. At the time I felt like the hardcore/punk scene was too complacent and needed some really radical thrashing punk to bring band the anger and energy. I went out of my way to write radical, aggressive lyrics to go with the music. We stirred up no small controversy, posing with automatic weapons and singing about shooting cops. One anarchist squat in Paris actually wouldn’t let us play because we were “too militant” I knew we were doing something right then. All of the group’s albums to date have been on the Havoc Records label.

COLLIN KRAMER

DANCE OR DIE!!!

Dance or die!!! is a hungarian fastcore/punk band. Vocals remind me of Devola.

OFFICE KILLER

Office Killer (1998-1999) was formed by Pascal and René, who wanted to start a band in the style of Shotmaker, Assfactor 4, and Heroin. After some time without a band, Anti was eager to play again. On account of a classified ad, they found Maurice and Mark. Together they formed Office Killer somewhere at the end of 1998. Unfortunately the band only stayed together for one year.

TEN AND TWO

Formed in 2004, Ten and Two is a hardcore band based out of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia. They have released two demos, a split 7” with The Critic and a song on The Emo Apocalypse compilation.

TUBERS

Tubers are a three piece band from St. Augustine, Florida, comprised of members of Twelve Hour Turn and The South. They play punk rock that is immediate, thoughtful and affecting, which will doubtless be appreciated by those who enjoy early DC hardcore, and bands like the WipersTubers combine the angular melodies and creative songcrafting of Twelve Hour Turn with the honesty and youthful insurgency of The South! Heavily influenced by early DC bands such as Rites of Spring, Dag Nasty , and Gray Matter, the Tubers create exciting new music that is accompanied by thoughtful, poignant lyrics.

OROKU

Oroku was a hardcore/punk band from Lawrence, KS that relocated to Seattle. They played dark and atmospheric crust in the vein of From Ashes Rise. Lisa from Garmonbozia was added to the band playing cello and gave it a more atmospheric sound. In 2006 they released “Living Through The End Time…” on Inimical Records. The band broke up in June 2007.

MACH TIVER

With their previous band, Zero, dissolving around them in the fall of 1995, brother and sister, Adam and Shannon, decide to stick together and play annoyingly loud music. After 10 tours, several ep’s, splits and full-length’s, fun loving adventurers, Adam and Shannon, called it quits as mach tiver playing their last show on august 28th, 2004 in Toronto, Ontario - a hometown to neither. For post-mach tiver bands check out beaumont hamel (rip), cougar party, and [monument of] SWORDS.

CRASH AND BRITANY

Crash And Britany were an / band from Sacramento, CA. The band featured members of The Yah Mos and Pretty girls. They were active from 1992 to 1998 and released a self-titled 7’‘, a cassette and an LP. They also had 2 songs on the “In Memory Of Jason” 2x12’’ compilation.

CAPTAIN, YOUR SHIP IS SINKING

CAPTAIN, YOUR SHIP IS SINKING was founded in 2007 by five friends with a shared passion for atmospheric, intense and loud music. After half a year of writing songs they played their first shows and a bit later they recorded four songs that appear on a self-released demo, as well as on the 12” titled “Cross your fingers for the epilogue”, released by Moment of Collapse and Sadness of Noise records. The songs are available here on last.fm and downloadable from [1].In the summer of 2009, the band returned to the studio to record four more songs, of which one will be released on the “Connections 2” six-way split 12” on Moment of Collapse records. As yet it is unclear in what form the other three songs will be released.
