FORMER MEMBERS OF ALFONSIN
Former Members of Alfonsin let loose some straight edge emotional hardcore with a torrent of anti-fascism rhetoric. Think Rites of Spring with a serious left wing slant.
Former Members were one of my very favorite live bands in the 90's.
The best was when they told the audience they were a "spirit-filled" HC band (as was a popular term for Christian bands to describe themselves). They forced the audience to pray as they put up a giant cross with a lifesize Jesus nailed to it. Then the singer burst out of hiding dressed as Jesus with crossed bandages on his hands in place of markered X's. For all sing-a-long parts, the mic was held in the direction of the crucified Jesus- whose mouth had a radio broadcasting evangelical sermons. Genius!
